Why Do We Need Crazy Artists?

Question
I don’t know why successful artists need to be crazy. In order for them to stand out from the crowd they have to wear weird clothes, have crazy sound, have strange names and some songs are difficult to understand. Why is that?
My Answer
I agree, poetry is a higher level of language, so it may not be understood by all people, but…
The reason people like different artists is because the need for variety is high in our society. We naturally recognize something that is different and stands out, so in a sense the average person (not that I think there is such a thing) is “boring” and no one wants to be identified with being average.
It is a bit of a shame, because I would like our young people to appreciate simplicity and just be themselves. I agree with you, it is missing a bit.
Artists mean nothing if they do not have fans and buyers or listeners and if being “crazy” is what makes them buy, they are very smart to stand out and have weird costumes and crazy sounds and amusing names.
In this world, all you can do if it bothers you is “Be Special, Be Yourself” (see below).
