I am glad you liked the advice.
I agree, this is probably very hard for kids to understand that parents do change.
I think Education and skills are a great goal but about opportunities, I am not sure, I think as parents and educators we are too busy with giving and giving our kids but do not teach them enough to take.
opportunities are there but if we can't notice them we may feel unlucky.
opportunities are like the sun, you many not feel their warmth if you do not open your window screens.
I hope kids could take your advice about education, skills, degree and staying in a job long enough to gain stability and experience.
Ronit

One thing I might add is that it is good to let kids know that adults make a lot of changes in life. House loans are often financed for the 7-year balloon rate because people move so often. Although someone may stay at a single company for decades, they rarely stay at the same job.
The advice to kids - It's ok to change directions. It's not ok to leave yourself without eduation, skills or opportunities. Finish the degree program you have. Stay with a job long enough to make your employer happy. But don't stop looking for what's next.

This is a great list of advice.
