Do We Have Enemies?

What is an enemy? Is it a person who wants to hurt you? Most people would agree to this description. In fact, here is what the dictionary says:

Enemy: One who feels hatred toward, intends injury to, or opposes the interests of another; a foe

But I think there is no such a thing, because no one wants to hurt anyone else. People only do things to feel better themselves. Unfortunately, these actions sometimes cause pain to others, but that is not the intention.

I wanted to say, "We are our worst enemies", but I do not believe it either. We never ever hurt ourselves intentionally. We intend to feel better, and when it does not work, we feel hurt.

Do you suffer from "gadjanja"? Of course not, because you do not know what it is. I made it up.

In exactly the same way, "enemies" do not exist. We made them up.

Your explanation about "enemies" above is quite rational and reasonable. I agree with you in that case but I still have one question. How about systems in the world that make some peoples in depressed situation or as a second class by a dominant group, can we call the oppressing group as an enemy? Or maybe the dominant group thinks the others as enemies :-) According to your explanation above: is this group oppressing the others just to make themselves feel better? feel higher? Thanks a lot

    Rudy,

There is a point in what you say. I think you have said it, I do believe all our actions comes from love or fear, if we do nice things, we are kind, accepting, it comes from a "love" source, we feel good, everyone around is good, all things happening to us are good (even the not so nice things) so no enemies in the world. but if we come from a "fear" source (for many reasons) we tend to do things that are not so nice, treating the world outside of us as enemies. You're right, someone who is dominant comes from a "fear" source. everything we do is to feel better, feel higher, even if it is hard to admit. We think it'll make us feel better.
Depressed is a feeling, no one can really get into our mind, from the outside and make us feel anything, we hold the key, we can always keep them out and only allow positive, inspiring, supportive happy people in.

    Thank you and happy day

I once heard a saying that goes "those who we cannot stand are usually those who we cannot understand".
I think you are right, we don't have 'enemies', we have people who do things for reasons we cannot find in ourselves.

    Hi E,

It is better to look at life like that.
If we do not like people it means we do not understand them.
I think the same about teaching, there are not problematic kids, but only kids I didn't yet find a way to teach.

    Thanks for visiting the site,
    come again.

and if we are talking about enemies, here is a clip of us hugging strangers on the streets just to say that we are all one and that we can connect without knowing each other
