Save Your Energy

Bryce Canyon in snow

It is not easy for people to understand that their thoughts, feelings and actions are forms of energy. I remember the first time I realized this. I was on the top of the snowy red mountains of Bryce Canyon in Utah, reading the book The Celestine Prophecy. For the first time, I found a visual explanation for feelings I had.

You see, as a child, I never learned to pay attention to my feelings. They seemed to be urges, strong impulses that repel me from doing something or being around others or attract me towards them. Considering emotions as a form of energy made a lot of sense to me and gave my feelings some credibility.

As I my emotional intelligence evolved, I learned that people with high EQ are very attractive, because they send good “vibes” to their environment and (surprise, surprise) the environment sends them good vibes right back, helping them live happy, healthy and successful lives.

Not everyone understands the connection between emotional ability, success and health, but it is necessary in order to control our destiny and our quality of life.

The Universe is Trying to Tell Me Something

Glass of water

Have you ever heard something over and over again from different, unrelated sources and you have said, “Wow, what a coincidence. I read about this yesterday” or “I got an email about this just last week”?

Well, when I get so many “coincidences” like that in a short time, I think the Universe is trying to tell me something.

One particular coincidental chain started a long time ago, when I was a kid. I listened to a “pirate” radio called “The Voice of Peace”, which played one commercial over and over again, saying “Water. Drink only water”. While they still played sponsored commercials for coke and other soft drinks, they ran this one more frequently than anything and did not get paid for it.

I loved the idea of that radio station, which promoted peace, and I loved the fact that they encouraged people to be healthy, unlike other stations that were selling air time to the highest paying advertiser.

When I was 18, I attended a workshop for girls about the world of cosmetics. Our presenter told us that if we wanted to have soft skin (“like a baby’s bum”), we needed to drink plenty of water, regardless of the price of the moisturizer we bought. Well, 3 of us experimented with this and, just like she said, after only a week, everyone commented on our wonderful, glowing skin.

But these things alone did not seem like they were going anywhere yet.

Kids Making a Difference

Scales

When I was 16, I joined the school council and fought for kids’ rights and freedom of speech. People said it was because I was a Libra, but the teacher who coordinated my school’s leadership programs (school council, school newspaper and class representatives) told us we were the future and what we were doing was very important. We wrote protest poems, listened to Joan Baez, negotiated with school authorities to make sure our education went beyond learning math and literature and made a big difference in the life of our fellow students.

Clouds

This happened to me at a huge cultural festival. We had had a hectic week preparing for the festival, with many last-minute notices and a low budget. The weather seemed very threatening – the rain in the previous week had destroyed the entire weekend for an environmental festival, washing away a whole year of hard work. It was still raining heavily and the thought of our work going down the drain was unbearable.

2 gold fish in a bowl

Both my sisters were in their late thirties. One was living with her partner and was going through a very frustrating fertility treatment that took over two years without much success, while the other was slowly progressing in her relationship with her new boyfriend.

Crystal ball

When someone tells you weird things, you think they are “psycho” or “mental”, but if you later find out what they told you was true, then you start questioning your “psycho” theory and allowing for the possibility there might be something there. When the weird things they tell you come true again and again, you start believing that the person (in my case, my mom) is psychic and has unusual abilities.

Fearless Living

Guy Finley

Every human being is delivered from a warm, dark, quiet and completely safe environment into the ever changing, sometimes rough world. Most modern babies’ first experience outside their mother is a bright light in a cold room, being shaken (although not stirred) and handled by many hands. Imagine the fear in the little creature! Some people think this is so traumatic it must be cleared from the psyche to ensure emotional health.

Happy pregnant woman

This is a true story, every word of it.

My auntie was about 40 years old when she got married. Everyone was very happy for her and my mom was the happiest of all, because her youngest sister and her only sister will finally have a chance to be a mother (at that time, my mom did not even consider having kids out of marriage).

My Psychic Mom (2)

Pregnant woman

I first suspected that my mom was psychic when I was 10 and she told me how my great-grandfather came into her dream and told her she would stay in my dad’s family forever. The second time was about 15 years later, when I came to visit my parents on one of our monthly visits.

My Psychic Mom

My great-grandfather

I suspected that my mom was psychic when I visited my late grandparents’ house and saw a photo of an old man, with a long gray beard and a special turban on his head. It was a black and white photo that stood proudly on top of my grandparents’ TV.
